For me, art is less about self-expression and catharsis and more about making the invisible visible. In this way, I feel that art is less psychological than it is metaphysical and spiritual. As Anais Nin said, "The artist tastes life twice." Art moves us out of the ordinary and allows us to see something that is real but not apparent to most. The eye and the heart must be able to penetrate, while the mind and the hand translates. The role of the artist in society is a special one. For those who can take the time to see and sense more, art adds a richness and abundance to a sometimes mundane world.
